New private residence, north Corfu
This new private summer residence was born around a basic problem, which is not always easy to handle in a project, the question of privacy and the isolation of private comfort spaces, especially given the increasing scarcity, in places like Corfu, of land located on the sea. A unique location, elevated above the sea and overlooking the wide arm of the sea enclosed between the island and the mainland, collides with the proximity of a large hotel. The overall layout of the project aims to block this presence visually and acoustically. The building is built with traditional materials and construction methods. Its style permeated with classic elements of Corfiot architecture, it is fused with modern technologies of minimalistic windows that offer large glass surfaces and maximize the panoramic views from the inside… A large biomechanical pergola emphasizes the internal external flow, allowing the use of the external spaces as an extension of the closed inhabited space.
